Rahul Dev Burman   NEW
Ali Baba aur 40 chor (EMI, India, 1980)
Excellent instrumental track called "Music" -featured on our comp "Charas Babu", with dope beats and electronics, reverse tape, strange atmosphere, FX, etc... plus oriental / southern russia sounds on "Title Music" and on most of the vocal tunes, as the action takes place somewhere between Irak and Afghanistan... Cover is a bit used, vinyl shows marks and there's light noise here and there, but nothing severe. This one is not offered too often, so don't lose the opportunity !
LP, VG/VG, 40 €

Ikraar (EMI, India, 1978)
Some bollywood beats used by Madlib a while back. Quite unknown but excellent soundtrack including "Hamse nazar to milao", "Saathi re gham nahin karna" and of course "Tum samne baithe raho". Cover is a bit used on edges, plus a light ringwear, and the disc, although shiny, has just some light marks. Plays excellent.
LP, VG/VG+, 50 €

Including some of the best tunes by Babla at that time : "Aye Mere Dil Kahin Aur Chal", "Man Dole Mera Tan Dole", "Indian Aartis", "Soniye Tera Chahe Jo Bhi Hona" and "Babla Orchestra Title Music". Killer electro world / digital disco album from India.

Ajit Varman
Vijeta (CBS, India, 1982)
Wow ! I had troubles finding this magnificent Indian soundtrack. Ajit Varman only composed half a dozen scores, did not sell too much, and now he is still not well know, even among Bollywood collectors. What makes this one so interesting is that the whole B-side is devoted to background music, which is quite unusual for an Indian record. Eight instrumental tracks ranging from incidental jazz to weird Asian groove. So hard to find ! And in excellent condition !

Instrumental Hits (Philips, India, 1977)
Wow ! I first found this album during my second trip to India, more than 16 years ago, and have been stunned by the funkiness of Kalyanji & Anandji's young brother Babla. I have put the tune "Babla's Theme" on a comp in 2002 ("The Urge") because it had a James Brown / JB's feel, something that reminded "Hot Pants Road"... The rest of te LP is solid too, and it's only instrumental. Ultra hard to find, especially in good shape.

Bappi Lahiri
Baadal (CBS, India, 1984)
Wow ! Always a big demand on this Bollywood soundtrack ! Bappi Lahiri lifting Herbie Hancock's "Rock It" on "Mere Jaisi Mehbooba" (sung by a powerful Sharon Prabhakar). Killer Indian electro funk. Very good condition.
LP, VG+/Ex-, 80 €
Bappi Lahiri
Maut ka saya (EMI, India, 1982)
Killer Indian funk score for an obscure horror Bollywood movie ! Crazy electro tune "Aafat" -sounds like an unknown Moodymann track right ?-, groovy intro with wah wah on "Tum phans gaye", dope funk instrumental with fem laughs on "Music", Hindi pop with funky parts on "Yeh samundar" and jazz pop with vibraphone on "Zulfon tale". Dope dope dope !
LP, VG/Ex-, 80 €
Kalyanji Anandji
Khoon ka rishta (EMI, India, 1981)
This background music track called "Music" is one of my favourite Bollywood numbers ! Crazy instrumental groove, sensual and hypnotic, with organ, mad synth, electronics and steel band. Killer breaks and samples !
LP, VG/Ex, 60 €
